COMMISSIONS
Commissions form a large part of my work: whether you’re after a particular wild animal, a favourite bird or a beloved pet. My embroidery art demonstrates a unique and distinctive way of recreating these beautiful creatures.
For pet portraits on canvas I work from your photos to create a sketch template based on your image and your preferred background. Your background could be plain and simple or you may wish your canvas to depict an area that is special to you, maybe your garden or a place where you exercise your dog.
From the proposed sketch I assemble a fabric collage, selecting materials that capture your pet’s character and breed. I then use a combination of embroidery and appliqué to create the final canvas.
You can choose how your piece is mounted: either in an open, stretched floating frame or behind UV anti-reflective glass.
My pet portrait cushions work in a similar way. I work from photos of your pet, creating a template for the cushion with a varied choice of coloured backgrounds. The cushions are 45cm2 and filled with a high quality feather cushion pad. I have portrayed many dogs, cats and horses in this way. They also make very good pet sympathy gifts or a lovely memorial to your beloved furry friend.
