Textile Designer, Lisa Skelton

I’m a textile designer and artist, living and working in rural North Yorkshire. Inspired by the natural world around me, I create appliquéd and embroidered portraits of dogs, birds and other animals set against the beauty of the local landscape.

After completing a Master’s degree in Knitted Textiles at the Royal College of Art, I ran a successful knitted-textile design business for many years, building a high-end accessories brand stocked by retailers around the world. Later, I took a different path as a stylist for lifestyle magazines and corporate clients. I’ve since returned to my first love—design and textiles—through my appliquéd and embroidered work.

I delight in the alchemy of fabric, needle and thread: recreating the texture of fur and feather, the play of light and shade, and the patterns and colours of the natural world.

Alongside birds and wild animals, I’m very happy to accept commissions for dogs and other pets.
